Contributions to XMK
There are no legal requirements placed on users of the XMK to
feed back any changes. With that said, feedback on the XMK is not
only accepted, but solicited. However, we ask that you assign the
copyrights to Shift-Right Technologies when you contribute any
significant changes to the XMK package. The rationale behind this
assignment is to avoid any possible confusion over the legal
ownership of XMK, and to indemnify Shift-Right Technologies and all
XMK users against copyright or patent claims on contributed code
used within XMK.
NOTE: If you are employed as a programmer (even at
a university), or have made an agreement with your employer or
school that gives them ownership of the software you write, then
Shift-Right Technologies needs a signed letter from your employer
disclaiming rights to the contributed software (click
here for an example form).
The process for assigning copyright is simple, print out the
Contributor Assignment of
Copyright form, sign it, and either fax or mail it to us.
The signed copy of the copyright assignment can be mail to:
Shift-Right Technologies,
LLC.
